Southwestern
Williston Basin Margin
The three prospects on
the southwestern margin of the Williston Basin are all located near West
Short Pine Hills and Cady Creek Fields in southern Harding County and northern
Butte County, South Dakota. Cumulative production from these two fields
provide the basis for reserve estimates for these three prospects.
PROSPECT SW-ONE
Geologic Aspects
Gas system = migrated, early generation biogenic gas.
Reservoir = conventional sandstone in Cretaceous Shannon SS.
Trap = buoyancy trap on faulted anticline.
Depth < 2000 feet.
Area = 6400 acres.
Economic Aspects
Reserve estimate = 10 - 24 BCF.
Distance to pipeline < 3 miles.
Leases = farmout to be negotiated.
Availability = immediate.
PROSPECT SW-TWO
Geologic Aspects
Gas system = migrated, early generation biogenic gas.
Reservoir = conventional sandstone in Cretaceous Shannon SS.
Trap = buoyancy trap on faulted anticline.
Depth < 2000 feet.
Area = 5120 acres.
Economic Aspects
Reserve estimate = 8-20 BCF.
Distance to pipeline < 3 miles.
Leases = farmout to be negotiated.
Availability = immediate.
PROSPECT SW-THREE
Geologic Aspects
Gas system = migrated and in situ, early generation biogenic
gas.
Reservoirs = conventional sandstone and unconventional interbedded
sandstone and shale in Cretaceous Shannon/Eagle.
Traps = buoyancy trap and possible capillary traps on three
contiguous fault blocks.
Depth < 1500 feet.
Area > 35,000 acres.
Economic Aspects
Reserve estimate = 50-130 BCF.
Distance to pipeline > 10 miles.
Leases = relatively open and inexpensive.
Availability = immediate.
