This list of leads has
emphasized shallow, basin margin accumulations in Cretaceous rocks of
the Williston Basin and of the northern and central Rockies. Thats
where most of my experience has been. The other domestic and international
examples are major plays that are described in the general literature.
We could especially use more domestic and international examples to make
this list of leads interesting to a broader audience. But, anything will
be welcome--including more examples from the Rocky Mountains and adjacent
There must be many more examples out there. If you have specific information
that you can share, please pass it along. Anything from old occurrences
to current production is of interest. Reserve estimates arent as
important as the simple record of the accumulation. At a minimum, we need
the following items:
1. location by county, state, and country on a specific basin margin;
2. approximate depth;
3. producing formation;
4. literature citation or brief summary of the lead.
Well add your examples to the lead list and update the website quarterly
with the new information.
Obviously, no one will be giving away any real secrets on their current
hot prospects. But, these leads are not necessarily specific prospects.
The leads list is intended to build a public domain record of shallow
basin margin gas accumulations that is accessible to anyone.
However, all this depends upon how much you, as a site user, are willing
to share. Eventually, this whole info exchange may evolve into a bulletin
board where site visitors can post their leads directly and browse those
provided by other visitors.
In the meantime, please use e-mail to get info onto the list.
